When you purchase a domain name, registries require that your personal information be accessible via the international WHOIS database. That means anyone can look up your email address, name, address, and phone number.
Dotster’s Private Registration blocks everyone from accessing this information by substituting our information for yours. If someone wants to contact you about your domain, we’ll forward all requests to you without revealing your personal information to the requestor.
If you're concerned that your personal information will be made publicly accessible, you need Private Registration.

You can add Private Registration (WHOIS Privacy) to current Dotster domains by logging into account management, selecting the domain, and adding the WHOIS Privacy product. For new domain registrations, add WHOIS Privacy from within the shopping cart.
Note: Private Registration is ONLY available for .COM, .NET, .INFO, and .MOBI domains.
Add Private Registration to Domains
- Log in to your account.
- Click on the My Domains tab.
- Under “Step 1”, select the domains to which you would like to add Private Registration (WHOIS Privacy). NOTE: WHOIS Privacy is only available for .COM, .NET, .INFO, and .MOBI extensions.
- Under “Step 2”, select Add WHOIS Privacy from the drop down menu. Click Go.
- This will add WHOIS Privacy to the selected domains and take you to the Shopping Cart. Continue through the purchase process until your order is complete.
